During the summer of 2026 I ventured out to the eastern foothills of the Canadian Rockies to see wild horses. After hearing about them for a good two years from a coworker, I knew I had to see them for my self. As a lifetime horse girl and an adventurer, this trip was one that felt very personal. It shaped a part of me and my photography and for that I am more than grateful.
The area is rugged, wild, and full of life. It is an area I hope (and possibly planning) to return too. You have no choice but to let the land show you its ways and to become completely memorized by the views and the life it holds.
The wild horses live in the hills but during late spring - early summer, they come down to meadows to have their foals. If you are lucky you can find them in the quiet meadows amongst the wild flowers. I was lucky to see over 100 horses each having their own story.
The wildlife gallery is mainly made up of Vancouver Island wildlife, but it also has some photos taken from other parts of BC. The wildlife in BC is vast and never ending. I am privileged to live in an area where seeing wildlife is a day to day occurrence.
